Médicos del Mundo deelt beurzen uit
For the tenth consecutive year the Spanish delegation of Médecins du Monde (Medicos del Mundo) is holding the LUIS VALTUENA INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD in memory of four of its members who were killed while working on humanitarian projects in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Rwanda. The award aims to raise awareness of the situation of the most disadvantaged populations around the world and is open to adult photographers of any nationality, both amateur and professional.
The competition is centred around the themes of humanitarian action, international co-operation and social exclusion – human rights violations, armed conflicts, natural disasters, refugee and immigrant populations, socially excluded groups etc – and/or to efforts aimed at building a fair and egalitarian world.
The winner will receive a working grant of 8,000 euros to develop a photographic project related to the work of Médicos del Mundo. Two runners-up will receive prizes of 1,000 euros each. There will also be a special prize of 1,500 euros for the best photograph/s on the theme of ‘Women and young girls: leaders of social change’. The winning photos and several other selected photos will form part of an international exhibition, which will tour the UK in 2007.
